Windows of the World: A Study in Urban Architecture

In Windows of the World, Portuguese photographer Andre Goncalves shows a very unique take on a vital element of every building, the window. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, are windows the eyes of the world? Andre not only brings windows to life but also to gives some vitality and personality to them.

I assembled the thousands of photographs that I had by cities or regions and created the collections that made the project Windows of the World come to life

The result of the series is a study in urban architecture and aesthetics highlighting the uniqueness of the world’s windows. In the process of choosing the photographs of the windows, the photographer strays from choosing the most beautiful ones, as we can see here, some windows are very unique and don’t fit well with others, but as he works to give each city or region its singularity and identity, Andre gives us a glimpse into their history and culture.
