Bali – The Island of the Gods, The Island of a million temples, and The Island of Ceremonies. Being the only island in Indonesia with a Hindu majority, Bali and its people are always busy with rituals and ceremonies. Balinese Hinduism celebrates all things in life; everything is in the name of gratitude and redemption to the Gods. The Balinese believe that life is an offering, and that explains the whole island’s strong devotion to the Gods, to others, and to every living thing.
Last Wednesday, we celebrated Buda Cemeng Klawu, a special day in the Balinese Calendar dedicated to Bhatara Rambut Sedana, also known as Goddess Lakhsmi, the goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity. Lots and lots of food, fruits, flowers and holy water are prepared as an offering to Her. The offering is a symbol of gratitude for what She has been given to the land of Bali for its people to enjoy. It was also the day to pray for a more prosperity in the future and to ask for guidance, and wisdom.
Roam, as a business born and raised in Ubud, we feel very happy to be able to join this ancient tradition. From the inevitable laughters and giggles when our Roamies try to figure out how to wear Balinese traditional outfits, to sitting silently in meditation, and wrapping up ceremonies with delicious Balinese snacks, this is a truly beautiful day for Ubud Roamily. Thanks to all who joined!
